Safety and transparency
How we look after Loci.
Loci is full of places people have made, and lots of the people playing in them are children. This is how to reach us, how to tell us about something that shouldn't be there, and what happens when you do.
Talk to us
Write to hello@playloci.com. It's Loci's one point of contact for everyone: players, parents, teachers, and the authorities of any country, including the EU's member states and the European Commission. A person reads every email, in English.
If a child is in danger right now, call the police first, then tell us.
Tell us about something
Anything on Loci can be reported from where you see it: a place, a player, a message. You can also use this form, with or without an account. Say what it is (a link, or its name), why it shouldn't be there, and anything that helps us find it. Leave your email if you'd like to hear what we did.
What happens next
- A person on Loci's team reads every report and every notice. No machine takes anything down on its own. A place that's reported goes back in front of the team, and stays listed until they've looked.
- We can take a place down for everyone (anyone playing in it is sent out, and its links stop working), refuse to list it, stop an account from chatting, or close it.
- When we act on something of yours, we email you what we did, which rule it broke, and why. If you think we got it wrong, reply to that email, and a person will look at it again.
- If you told us about it and left your email, we'll tell you what we did.
Before a place is listed
A place goes in Discover, where anyone can find it, only once a person on Loci's team has looked at it. It's looked at again whenever its name, description or rules change. A place can still be shared privately while it waits.
Names, descriptions, rules and usernames are checked by Loci's own word list as they're typed: no strong language, no links, emails, phone numbers or addresses, and nothing that pretends to be Loci. That, and hiding rude words in chat from everyone under 18, is all that's automatic.
What isn't allowed
- Anything not safe for the children who play Loci
- Someone's private details: a face, an address, a document
- Hate, or bullying
- Anything sexual
- Violence, or anything meant to frighten (a ghost in a haunted house is fine)
- Anything against the law
- Pretending to be someone you aren't, or tricking people
- Spam, or scams
Your home stays yours
The photos taken while you scan a room are used to pick its colours, then deleted. A room on Loci is its shape and colours, never a photo of it. We never ask where a space is. A new space is private until its owner shares it.
Our numbers
Loci has only just opened to everyone. Every six months we'll publish here how many reports and notices we had, what we did about them and how quickly, and how many people use Loci in the EU each month.
